How to scale your DWG and DXF files from RatedPower on AutoCAD

Are you struggling with the viewports or scale on AutoCAD? Then you're in the right place!

RatedPower allows our users to download a variety of files. You can easily change the scale of the drawings that are acceptable to Autocad, or even create new viewports, by following the steps below:

  • First, you will need to open the CAD file and go to paper space.
  • After that, you need to unlock the viewport. To do that, double-click the viewport and uncheck the lock button showing on the bottom right. Once this is complete, you should be able to zoom in/out, or move the layout freely.
  • Still, inside the viewport, you will click the button on the right side of the lock, to select the scale for the viewport. Once you have selected the scale, you can manually add this number to the title block of the drawing. In case the title block is locked, you can go to the layers and uncheck the lock as well.
  • If you have a site where the substation or BESS is too far from the available area, and you would like to have a better view of it, you can add a new viewport by simply typing viewports, selecting single, and drawing the rectangle where you would want this in the paper space. You might need to zoom in a bit on the area you're trying to emphasize, you can do that by double-clicking on the viewport and drag zoom or drag with your mouse.
